Michael Waddoups
Michael Waddoups (b. June 12, 1948) is a former Republican member of the Utah State Senate, representing the 6th District from 1997 to 2013.
Waddoups' political experience began with his work as voting district chair for the Republican Party. He was a Legislative District Chair for the Republican Party from 1984 to 1987. In 1987 he was appointed to the Utah House of Representatives. He served in this position until 1996. From 1995 to 1996 he was House Majority Whip. Waddoups was appointed to the Utah State Senate in 1996 and has served in the position since. He served as Senate Majority Leader until 2006. He was also the President of the Utah Senate. He represented the 6th District.
Waddoups worked as a property manager for Woodbury Corporation from 1977 to 1980. He went on to work for Commonwealth Management from 1980 to 1982. He has also been an owner/realtor for Cooperative Property Management and has worked in this position since 1982.
Waddoups earned his associate degree in accounting from Ricks College in 1971. He went on to receive his B.S. in business management from Brigham Young University in 1974. He then became a certified property manager from the Graduate Institute of Real Estate Management in 1980.

Waddoups did not run for re-election in 2012.[1]
2008
On November 4, 2008, Waddoups won re-election to the 6th District Seat in the Utah State Senate, defeating opponent Cora Jckowski.[2]
Waddoups raised $78,140 for his campaign, while Jckowski raised $11,432. [3]

The Sutherland Institute, "a conservative public policy think tank" in Utah, releases its Scorecard for Utah State Representatives and Senators once a year. The Score Card gives each legislator a score based on how they voted in the prior legislative term on specific issues which the Sutherland Institute thought were pro-conservative policies.[4]
