Hawaii: Judge Michael D. Wilson was appointed to the Hawaii Supreme Court by Governor Neil Abercrombie on February 18, 2014. A judge of the O'ahu First Circuit Court since 2000, Wilson was selected to replace Justice Simeon Acoba, who will step down from the bench in March after having reached the age of mandatory retirement. Wilson's appointment is subject to confirmation by the Hawaii Senate.
Governor Abercrombie stated:
“ | Both on and off the bench, Judge Wilson is a well-respected leader. He brings a wealth of experience, having served as an attorney and Circuit Court judge. The Constitution and our kuleana responsibilities to it will be in good hands.[1][2] | ” |
Wilson has worked for the state for some time, serving on the Board of Land and Natural Resources, the Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission and the Division of Consumer Advocacy before becoming a circuit judge. He received his J.D. from the Antioch School of Law.[1]
