Michael Wise (South Carolina)
Michael Wise is the South Carolina Director of Insurance. He assumed office on May 11, 2023. His current term ends on January 13, 2027.
Gov. Henry McMaster (R) appointed Wise South Carolina Director of Insurance on April 26, 2023. He was later confirmed for the position by the South Carolina State Senate on May 11, 2023.[1]
Biography
Wise earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics-economics from Furman University. [2]
Prior to being appointed South Carolina Director of Insurance, Wise served as Deputy Director of the state of South Carolina’s Actuarial and Market Services Division. Wise, who has worked for the South Carolina Department of Insurance since 2009, has also served as a rates analyst, in addition to other various actuarial and management roles prior to managing the Actuarial and Market Services Division.
