Loewenthal received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland College Park in 1979 and her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1983.[1]

Primary: She was successful in the Democratic primary on June 24, 2014, receiving 22.7 percent of the vote. She competed against Charles Bernstein, Stephan W. Fogleman, Granville Templeton, III, Mark H. Weisner, and incumbent Judge Lewyn Scott Garrett.
General: She was unopposed in the general election on November 4, 2014. Three seats were up for election.
