Campaign themes

2014

Weeks' campaign website highlighted the following issues:[2]

Education

  • Excerpt: "We need to stop the defunding of education because the victims are our youth. Let’s focus instead on putting money back into the class room."

Clean Air

  • Excerpt: "Our environment matters, it affects everyone's health and our financial well-being. More environmental friendly legislation needs to be passed to bring Utah up to the modern standards of other cities in the US. Electing legislators who are concerned for our health is the first step in making a serious difference with our air quality and at the same time letting us breathe a little easier. Voting for Michele Weeks is a vote for cleaner air in this valley."

Economy

  • Excerpt: "I am planning on making Utah more inviting to the high tech, high paying, and low polluting companies by increasing per pupil spending in K-12 public schools. We have to increase the amount we spend on education; it is not only hurting our youth, but it is hurting our economy."

Health Care

  • Excerpt: "Currently millions of our Utah tax dollars are going to other states that have agreed to expand their Medicaid programs. This money, which could help our Utah citizens, are helping other citizens in neighboring states. We need to take back this tax money from the Federal Government and expand our own Medicaid program."
