Michelle Ackerman Havas
Michelle Ackerman Havas is a judge for Branch 10 of the Milwaukee County Circuit Court in Wisconsin. She assumed office in 2017. Her current term ends on August 1, 2029.
Ackerman Havas ran for re-election for the Branch 10 judge of the Milwaukee County Circuit Court in Wisconsin. She won in the general election on April 4, 2023.
Havas was a judge for Branch 45. She was appointed by Governor Scott Walker (R) on August 24, 2015, to replace Judge Rebecca Bradley, who was appointed to the court of appeals.[1] Havas lost in her bid for a full term in the general election on April 5, 2016.[2]

Education
Havas received her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin in 1998.[1]
Career
Prior to her judicial appointment, Havas was an assistant district attorney from 2002 to 2015. She previously worked at the district attorney's office as a legal secretary from 1989 to 1992. She then worked as a parole and probation officer at the Department of Corrections before attending law school. After graduation, she worked at Whyte Hirschboeck and Westlaw before becoming an assistant district attorney.[1]

Nonpartisan primary election
The primary election was canceled. Incumbent Michelle Ackerman Havas advanced from the primary for Milwaukee County Circuit Court Branch 10.
2017
Wisconsin held local judicial elections in 2017. Forty-eight circuit court seats were up for election on April 4, 2017. Three seats required primaries on February 21, 2017, with the top two vote recipients for each seat advancing to the April 4 general election. Thirty-seven seats up for election in 2017 were unopposed.[3] Michelle Ackerman Havas ran unopposed in the general election for the Branch 10 seat on the Milwaukee County Circuit Court.

Wisconsin held general elections for local judicial offices on April 5, 2016. A primary election took place on February 16, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 5, 2016. Jean Kies defeated incumbent Michelle Ackerman Havas in the Milwaukee County Circuit Court general election for Branch 45.[2]

The 241 judges of the Wisconsin Circuit Courts are elected in nonpartisan elections to six-year terms. All judges must run for re-election if they wish to continue serving after their term expires.[5]
The chief judge of each circuit court is chosen by the state supreme court to serve a two-year term.[5]
Qualifications
To serve on the circuit courts, a judge must be:[5]
- a qualified elector in the state;
- a qualified elector of his or her circuit (for circuit judges); and
- licensed to practice law in the state for at least five years.
