I am involved in our community, accessible, and committed to Cheyenne's quality of life.- No Decisions about you without you! I am a huge believer that we need to be involving and engaging our constituents anytime we are making decisions that impact them. In an effort to be accessible I initiated Council and Coffee that has been held every month for the last 4 years that is a drop in-drop out event for community members to visit with me about any concerns or issues they want to discuss. I also am committed to returning phone calls and emails within 24 hours to my constituents. I don't think you should only hear from your council person every 4 years when they are seeking your vote.
- Fiscal responsibility is hugely important. I believe we need to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars. I am insistent that we need to be able to maintain what we already have before adding new projects or amenities. I think that we need to review all properties currently owned by the city and sell those that we don't have a use for. We need to review how we are currently using the space we have and consider allowing telework for those jobs that aren't public facing. We need to make sure we can provide the services required by state statute first and that we have staffing to be able to do this. I also believe that we need to make sure our employees are paid at market rate while living within our budget.
- Transparency and integrity are important. I regularly try to explain why I am voting a certain way. I am a proponent of open meeting law. I have sponsored legislation to implement a code of ethics for City Council members. I don't accept donations for my campaign in an effort to not allow anyone to influence me and to make sure there is no appearance of that. I find that with "shekels come shackles". I also am a big believer in term limits. If an elected official can't accomplish what they want to in 8 years they need to move on and let others try.
1. Water--water is vital to our community. I believe we need to make sure we are providing safe drinking water and are able to meet the needs of our city residents. This includes conservation, access to additional water supplies, and maintaining the infrastructure. We have many miles of clay pipes that will need to be replaced.
2. Public Safety--As Cheyenne grows we need to make sure that we have sufficient emergency responders to protect our residents. We need to make staffing a priority. We can't continue to annex items into the city and stretching our public safety resources.
