Two of the five seats on the Berkeley County Schools Board of Education were up for at-large general election on May 10, 2016. In their bids for re-election, incumbents J. Ron Gray and William "Bill" Queen faced challenger Michelle Barnes-Russell.[1][6] Queen won re-election, and Barnes-Russell defeated Gray to win a seat on the board.[3]
