Jones issued the following statement regarding her bid for office:

My name is Michelle Jones and I’m a married mother of three who has lived in Hall County, and the Flowery Branch area since March 2013. As a mother, wife, and community leader, I’m keenly aware of the issues facing Hall County, especially for working and middle class families.

Hall County and HD-30 needs new leadership in the legislature. As a community leader I’ve educated and organized people to come together on behalf of families, workers, health care patients, the voiceless, and disenfranchised across Georgia. Those working paycheck to paycheck, and juggling work and family responsibilities deserve a voice in the legislature.

I was once a single mother, until I met my wonderful husband and got married almost two years ago. This experience, along with others in my life, gave me a unique understanding of the difficulties that many Georgia families face, especially single parent households.

I hail from North Georgia, and North Georgia values are deeply embedded in my life. From my own experiences, and the experiences Hall County residents have shared with me, I’ve come to realize the Georgia legislature needs effective, bold leadership, on issues like growing the economy to work for everyone, increasing wages, expanding access to quality healthcare, creating good jobs, and fixing our school system from Pre-K to higher education. My husband is a small business owner, and our family has seen first hand, the negative impact that a dysfunctional legislature, and an inadequate state representative can have on families and small businesses.

Most of all, Georgia needs a responsive state government that listens to constituents from all walks of life and backgrounds, rather than corporate special interests. The Government of Georgia should work for the people, and invest in the future. Helping our neighbors is what putting Hall County first is all about. The need for leadership on these issues, and reform in the state legislature, is why I decided to run for Georgia House District 30.

I look forward to hearing more from you across the district about your issues, your struggles, and the things that matter to you as I embark on this campaign. This effort is about making a better future for my children, and fight for the diverse people of our great county in the Georgia legislature.

Please feel free to look at my issues page or get in touch with me on social media if you have specific questions, or would like to know more about my background and vision for Hall County and HD-30. [1]
