Michelle is an Army Nurse executive who recently retired after 28 years of active-duty service. Dr. Munroe held a variety of executive leadership positions in both clinical and academic settings. As the hospital commander/CEO of Winn Army Community Hospital, she led the organization as a high-reliability organization and the implementation of a just culture. Since retirement, she has worked as a healthcare consultant providing expertise in evidence-based practice, project management, and women’s healthcare.
  • When we take care of women, society as a whole benefits.
  • Diversity, equity, and equality needs to be part of everything we do.
  • Building relationships opens communication to get things done.

My first job was delivering newspapers after school and on Sunday mornings. I had it for about a year.

Campaign website

Munroe's campaign website stated the following:

Affordable Healthcare

Healthcare is a multifaceted issue. Two areas of need to be addressed are access to care and access to the right providers. An increase to access to care can be done through Medicaid expansion. Additionally, allowing all healthcare providers to work at the highest scope of their practice would open availability to providers especially in rural areas.

Job Creation

I would create partnerships with the labor commissioner to create apprenticeship, internships and other programs to benefit people in transition, I.e., high school, college, and military transitions.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse

I have spoken to the professionals working within the community to include those who work in the legal field. As a healthcare professional, I agree that one of the most significant issues we face in the Mental Health and Substance Abuse population is the lack of treatment and counseling. You have the stigma of Substance Abuse and Mental Health, especially within underserved communities. The best way to treat these issues outside of medicine is to eradicate that stigma through legislation that supports education so that people will be more willing to seek help.

Reproductive Freedom

I believe women should be empowered to make choices that are right for them. Instead of the continuous attempt at controlling the narrative and system on women's bodies, we need to listen to what women want and create a system and the legislation that supports women's right to choose.

Voting Rights

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." We have witnessed Republican lawmakers oppose our right to vote here in Georgia. We watched in shock at how Rep. Carter stood alongside his Republican counterparts to object to certifying the election. We also watched how that intertwined itself into the devastation on January 6, 2021. This opposition was a direct assault not only on our voting rights as Georgians but on our democracy as Americans.

Education

I believe in life-long learning that starts with a strong foundation that starts as early as pre-k. Equal access to high quality education for all.

Clean Energy

Georgians are hurting. Americans are hurting. We need to invest in energy efficient resolutions that will save Georgians money on their power bills.

Environmental Protection

My family and I crab and shrimp off the coastline. Many of our friends earn their living from it. Coastal Georgia is a natural resource community. We must protect our water quality, aquatic life and our natural resources.

Disabled Veterans

As a retired military leader, I have first hand knowledge that many of our veterans do not receive their full and rightful disability once they leave service. This is unacceptable. We need to take care of our vets just as they have taken care of our country during their time of service.

Affordable Housing

Americans face a housing crisis. As the First Congressional District Representative, I will work with other federal leaders and agencies to create and sustain an affordable housing market. With such a market, along with jobs that pay livable wages, we can construct a firm solution that will help to fix this crisis.[3]
