Michelle P. Connor was a Republican candidate for District 8 of the California State Assembly. The primary election was on June 8, 2010, and the general election was on November 2.[1][2]

Michelle has been a political advocate throughout California and her community since the age of eighteen. She grew up traveling around the U.S. and fell in love with Solano County when she settled there in 1992 because it was in her words, “a microcosm of the U.S.” Michelle recognizes that the place she calls home is the region that made California great through it’s rich resources, landscapes and diverse people. She wants to ensure that the region is a vital part of maintaining California’s place as a leader of the global economy. Making the region economically friendly for businesses, agriculture and families is chief among her aims. Throughout her own career, she has worked for major and medium sized corporations while simultaneously working toward a triple major in political science, art history, and economics.

She has worked across the aisle with both Republicans and Democrats in Congress and the California State Assembly. It was her time as the legislative advocate for a California Women’s group, from 2007-2009, that served as the linchpin for her own run for state assembly. Her job in Sacramento was to advocate the group’s stances on public policy within various subcommittees and in the budget committee. While working in the Capitol she gained a great familiarity with the inner workings of our government and a definitive understanding, not just of how our system works, but also of how it is deeply flawed and how it must be changed to work for Californians.
