Campaign themes
2014
Volk criticized Common Core in an interview with SunThisweek, stating, "It’s very selective in how they chose to present their history. They leave out why the Founding Fathers created the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution the way they did — this history that goes before the Founding Fathers came to America — and why those documents are important on the founding of our country." She added that its treatment of mathematics was "absolutely absurd" and that she wanted to ensure that the standards were not enacted in Minnesota.[2]
