Michelle W. Lawson is a Seventh Judicial District judge for Clay County, Minnesota. She was appointed to this position by Governor Mark Dayton on October 23, 2012.[1]

She was re-elected in 2014 for a term that expires in 2020.[2]

Education

Lawson earned her B.A. from Minnesota State University Moorhead and earned her J.D. from the University of North Dakota. She also worked as a professor at the University of Mary in Bismarck and taught at the University of North Dakota for two years.[1]

Career

Before serving on the Seventh District, Lawson worked with the Clay County attorney’s office.[1]

2012 appointment

Lawson was appointed by Governor Mark Dayton on October 23, 2012, filling a vacancy left by Judge Michael Kirk.[1]
