The ballot title for Allow Legislature to Provide for Revision of State Statutes Amendment was as follows:
“ | Proposed Amendment to the State Constitution Authorizing the Legislature to Provide for General Revision of the Statutes Shall Section 40 of Article V of the State Constitution be amended as follows: "The legislature shall provide by law for the general revision of the statutes at such time in such manner as it shall determine?" | ” |

A two-thirds vote is required during one legislative session for the Michigan State Legislature to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot. That amounts to a minimum of 74 votes in the Michigan House of Representatives and 26 votes in the Michigan State Senate, assuming no vacancies. Amendments do not require the governor's signature to be referred to the ballot.
