• Economy-Economy-This is a non-partisan issue. The decisions that have been made and not made have hurt all of us. The decision to increase the budget, to not cut the gas tax or the sales tax on gas. There have also been regulations put on small business and a lot of red tape that make Michigan not an attractive to those whom want to start a business here. These decisions were made while there has been over a 6 Billion dollar surplus. How has that helped us, it has not. We are living in the worst economic times in over 40 years. I have 37 years of Small business experience. I worked for Governor Engler for 8 years. I know how tough it is to fight and make changes on budgets. You need a representative with experience whom will fight wi

● Public Education- In my family I have several family members whom are teachers. What is happening in Michigan to our children’s experience in schools is a travesty. It is also terrible for the teachers. Teachers are leaving the industry and are not paid enough. We can’t attract enough new teachers. I would push for more of the budget to be spent on Teachers pay. There seems to be enough for social programs. More needs to be spent on mental health for students. The Teachers have pressure to cover all of the content an inch deep and a mile wide, instead of developing a deeper understanding of the skills and concepts. I would support the focus on the subjects we parents know will make our children educated for the work place and be succ

• Roads and Infrastructure- This is truly another budget issue. The money has been there. Michigan has not allocated the money despite all the promises. There is also not enough control given to local governments to spend the money on the roads. Throughout 56th district we see road construction with Asphalt. It is just for the show. We know this, asphalt breaks down and needs replacement much sooner. More importantly it produces greenhouse gases Instead of fixing the roads it is a bandage. "The process of melting asphalt creates greenhouses gasses, which contribute to environmental pollution. This happens regardless of new production or recycling. Asphalt is a cheaper and faster solution for short-term projects, but the repairs are som
Public Education - Education is the foundation of everything we do in our lives, yet Michigan has been underfunding our public schools for years. Thirty years ago, Michigan was among the top 10 best states for education. Today we are down in the bottom third of the nation. I was pleased to see that the state budget for FY 2023 included more funds for mental health services in our schools. In the future, we need to fix funding for special education. There is supposed to be dedicated funding for special education in the state budget, but there never has been, meaning school districts must pay for special ed services out of the regular budget, creating a drain on resources for our students, teachers, and schools.

Reproductive Freedom - I believe that women deserve the right to decide what happens with their own bodies as well as their own pregnancies. In Lansing, I will do everything in my power to protect girls’ and women’s reproductive rights. My daughters are 19 and 21. They are full citizens deserving of full rights in this state and in this country. You can BET I will fight for their freedoms.

Roads & Infrastructure - Our infrastructure in Michigan has been neglected for decades. And although the budgeting has improved under Gov. Whitmer, we need to invest even more in the future to bring it up to the level of other states. We must invest in innovative technologies and longer-lasting materials that are environmentally sustainable. I work at Lawrence Tech where our Civil Engineering Dept has developed new materials for bridges that will help them last twice as long as conventionally built bridges. It’s time we commit to longer-term solutions, rather than continuing to endlessly patch our roads.

My priorities in public policy include the Budget, education, roads, infrastructure, and election integrity.

I have the background to fight for the correct allocation of our tax money. That will help with education and the roads and infrastructure. It will also help us the tax payers. I am tired of being treated as though we are here to work for government; I believe government should work for us. We are not their employees they are ours. My endorsements include Health Alliance, Insurance Alliance, Citizens for Traditional Values, Right to Life, Greater Metro Association of Realtors, the Association of Builders and Contractors of Michigan, and Michigan Corn

My policy priorities are public education, reproductive healthcare, and investing in infrastructure so we can leave our children with the Michigan we all deserve. Also high on my list are protecting voting rights for everyone, legislating common-sense gun safety, and helping everyone enjoy life into our retirement years. I have been endorsed by Planned Parenthood, the AFL-CIO, the Detroit News, AFSCME Council 25, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), MI List, Downtown Newsmagazine, and LGBT Detroit Mobilization. I have also earned Moms Demand Action’s Gun Sense Distinction.
