My life experience as a veteran, as a first responder and as an education. Also based upon my education and the training that I have received over the years. I have had the opportunity to develop many working relationships that will benefit me as a legislator.
To have served the people of the United States, the State of North Carolina and my community to the best of my ability and to have made their lives better.
I remember the astronauts, of Apollo 11, setting foot on the moon on July 20, 1969. I was nine years old when United States and NASA reached the moon.
I worked on a tobacco farm as a teenager. I worked there until I finished high school and joined the United States Navy at age 17.
The governor and the legislature must work together. One should not be a rubber stamp for the other. Our Constitution sets up these two branches of government to work together but, also they are to be a check and balance at the same time.
Getting a legislature that reflects the actual makeup state’s citizens and a legislature that can work together in the best interest of all our citizens.
Yes, I believe that it is beneficial for some state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics. Government works in a unique way, unlike private owned businesses.
Relationships are critical to getting things done in government. One group or one party cannot address all the issues and challenges facing our state.
I believe compromise is necessary to resolve the issues that are in the best interest of the American citizens. We need to pass the things that we agree on and work to find solutions/compromises to the more complex problems we face.
