I'm proud to say that I have been endorsed by the Las Vegas Review Journal for Department 24.

Albert Einstein is quoted as saying "The only source of knowledge is experience." I am the most experienced candidate for this race.

My family moved us to Las Vegas 50 years ago in 1970. I went to junior and high school here, I joined the Boy Scouts and attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

I moved out of state for college and law school. After graduating law school, I moved to Las Vegas in 1984. I was first hired by Michael Cherry as a law clerk. After a few months, I was presented with the opportunity to be a law clerk for Judge Miriam Shearing, where I clerked for over a year.

It was while working for Judge Shearing I learned just how difficult the job of judge was and the burdens of being a judge. I also realized that I wanted to be a judge. I also knew that it took extensive experience to do the job correctly

I've been practicing law, all in Clark County, for 36 years. In those 36 years, I have:

Over 10,000 hours of time in the court room I've appeared before over 100 judges I've handled over 100 trials I"ve handled over 300 appeals My appeals have resulted in 19 cases become law in Nevada I have been a court appointed arbitrator for over 25 years I have had my own law practice for 23 years

This extensive experience sets me apart from the other candidates for this office. I have practiced law twice as long as any of the other candidates
  • I am the most experienced candidate for this department
  • I am hard working, fair and honest
  • My court room will be accessible to all persons
Judicial candidates in Nevada are not permitted to discuss public policy. They are limited to providing details regarding their qualifications for the office.
I admire Miriam Shearing. She is my initial role model of how a judge is supposed to conduct a court room. She was the first female Justice of the Peace, the first female District Court Judge, and the first female Supreme Court Justice.

I also admire Michael Cherry, who first hired me, and went on to be a District Court Judge and a Supreme Court Justice.

There have been a number of judges who I see as role models.
A judicial candidate is not permitted to discuss political issues, so I am declining to answer this question.

I have always wanted to had the reputation of being fair, honest, and competent.
I actually remember the Kennedy assassination. Although I was only 4 years old at the time, I specifically remember the commotion at our house and leaving the door to my bedroom door open so I could watch the television late into the night that my parents had on.

I was 9 years old in 1968 and I do remember the assassinations of Martin Luther King and a few months later, the assassination of Robert Kennedy.

I lived in New York, and I remember news coverage of Wood stock, and we stayed up late to watch Neil Armstrong walk on the moon on July 20, 1969.
My first job was as a bag clerk at Safeway. It was a summer job when I was 15 years old.
Carlos Castaneda. Journey to Ixtlan. I read it in college and it has great life philosophy
Tough choice between Mickey Mouse and Superman
I would prefer not to respond to this question
The single most important responsibility of a judge is to uphold and to follow the law.
Every person is entitled to their day in court, and when that day comes, a judge should have the patience to listen to all sides of a controversy and the experience to make a proper determination.
Jim Crockett is the current sitting judge in Department 24 but he is retiring. This is an open department. It has handled only civil cases and the vast majority of my experience is in civil cases.
No. A judge is not supposed to be influenced by politics. It is far more important for a judge to have court room experience.
Las Vegas has been a growing city for the last 50 years and it will continue to grow. As the population grow, the case load of judges increases which creates burdens on the judicial system.
