Mickey Channell (b. September 9, 1942) is a former Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 120 from 1993 to January 15, 2015. Channell retired on January 15, 2015, citing health reasons.[1]

Channell served on the Greene County Board of Education from 1980 to 1992, and on the Greene County Board of Commissioners from 1972 to 1980.

Channell switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party in November 2006.

Biography

Channell's professional experience includes founding Corner Pantry Food Marts and Channell Enterprises, and working as Co-Owner of Channell Super Valu.

Elections for the Georgia House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 20, 2014, with runoff elections taking place where necessary on July 22, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Incumbent Mickey Channell was unopposed in the Republican primary and was unchallenged in the general election.[2][3][4]

Channell ran in the 2012 election for Georgia House of Representatives District 120. Channell ran unopposed in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012. He was unopposed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[5][6][7]

Channell ran for re-election to the 116th District seat in 2010. He did not have any opposition in the July 20 primary and no one ran against him in the general election on November 2, 2010.[8]

In 2008 Channell was re-elected to the Georgia House of Representatives District 116. Channell (R) ran unopposed and finished with 16,809 votes.[9] Channell raised $201,407 for his campaign fund.[10]

Channell is a member of the Central and Southern Bank of Greensboro Board of Directors, First United Methodist Church of Greensboro, Georgia Cities Foundation Board of Directors, Georgia Retail Grocers Association Board of Directors, Mercer University School of Medicine Board of Directors, and the National Association of Convenience Stores Board of Directors.[12]
