The Midland Independent School District put a $4.75 million bond proposal on the ballot in 1959. The district sought funding for the Lee High School and the Henderson, Rusk and Jones elementary schools. The bond passed with 82.20 percent of voters approving the measure. This was the district's 12th bond election.[1]
