Voters in the Midland Independent School District, which is located in Midland County in western Texas defeated a $10.2 million bond proposal in 1979. The district placed the measure on the ballot to seek funding for the Midland and Lee high schools, as well as vocational education and other projects. The bond was defeated with 61.98 percent of voter against the measure. This was the district's 20th bond election, but it was the first to fail to receive voter approval.[1]
