Voters in the Midland Independent School District, which is located in Midland County in western Texas rejected $72.2 million in bonds in 2000. The district placed the measure on the ballot to seek funding for a new Midland High School and renovations to the Lee High School. The measure was defeated, with 69.64 percent of voters opposing the measure. This was the district's 30th bond election, but only the third measure to be rejected by voters.[1]
