Campaign themes

2016

Najera's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]

Restore liberty

  • Excerpt: "Our Founding Fathers fought for our liberty, and they secured it through a Constitution that strictly limited the power of government. Today our liberty is threatened by rising taxes and government expansion, the takeover of large segments of our economy, including health care, and encroachments on our privacy. I pledge to fight the tyranny of big government, and work to restore the freedoms enshrined in our Constitution."

Promote job growth

  • Excerpt: "Almost four years into the official “economic recovery,” too many Oklahomans are out of work. Many more are either out of work or underemployed. Young people, even college graduates, struggle to find work. We need to get Oklahomans back to work by improving our state’s regulatory environment."

Improve health care

  • Excerpt: "One of the worst impediments to job creation and prosperity is the skyrocketing cost of health care hanging over every business and individual in our country. Oklahoma is ranked one of the lowest in the nation when it comes to accessible and affordable health care. Obamacare has only complicated the issue. The Senate author of Obamacare called it a “train wreck,” and the Administration admitted its unworkability when it delayed the employer mandate by one year. We must oppose Obamacare implementation until it is repealed and replaced, and work towards commonsense health care solutions for all Oklahomans."

Protect innocent human life

  • Excerpt: "I have been pro-life my whole adult life. All life is precious and we must work to defund and stop pro-abortion organizations like Planned Parenthood. I will continue to defend human life in the Oklahoma State Senate."

Secure second amendment rights

  • Excerpt: "If our Second Amendment rights are not secure, none of our others will be either. As your State Senator, I will fight attempts by liberal politicians to attack our gun rights."
