|The future of my generation and generations to come are on the line and I know that I have no choice but to stand up for it. In the General Assembly, I will represent the people in my community and pass legislation that supports our wellbeing, not corporations, wealthy donors, and special interest.
- Miguel is a young democrat, whose platform puts working families of Rhode Island before special interests and the ultra-wealthy. Some of the issues that he's most passionate about are renewable energy, affordable housing, quality public education, and a $15 minimum wage.
- Miguel knows that solar energy and other renewable energy sources are important for our future, but so are forests and our open space. We believe that the General Assembly needs to amend the renewable energy laws so that solar is sited on already developed and disturbed areas like rooftops, parking lots, and landfills.
- Miguel is calling on the General Assembly to adopt the Rhode Island Political Coop's "Coronavirus Rescue and Recovery" Plan. This plan would dramatically expand unemployment insurance, free testing, treatment, hospital beds and ventilators. It also calls for a moratorium on evictions, foreclosures, and utility shut-offs throughout the duration of the crisis, as well as immediate legislation that would guarantee free food for everyone who cannot afford it, and free deliveries of food for anyone who cannot leave their home during the crisis.
