The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 25, 2014. Incumbent Mike Bernskoetter was unopposed in the Republican primary. Michael Eberle was unopposed in the Constitution Party primary. Bernskoetter defeated Eberle in the general election.[4][5]

Bernskoetter won re-election in the 2012 election for Missouri House of Representatives, District 59. Bernskoetter ran unopposed in the August 7 Republican primary and defeated Vonnieta E. Trickey (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[6][7]
