Campaign themes

2014

Duffy's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]

Infrastructure

  • Excerpt: "Open Kensico Dam to passenger vehicles. The Village of Vahalla is being choked by the excessive traffic the closure is causing, affecting small businesses and contributing to empty storefronts."

Taxes

  • Excerpt: "Property taxes must be maintained or lowered. Taxes are raised in order to fund unwanted, mandated forces on constituents. It’s easy to spend someone else’s money, but you can vote for Mike Duffy because he will treat your money as his own."

Small Business

  • Excerpt: "Tax incentives should be given to small businesses to allow them to prosper. Additionally, legislators have an obligation to provide proper infrastructure and roadway that allow for the free flow of traffic, and increase the likelihood that people will stop and shop—instead of avoiding the area."

The SAFE Act

  • Excerpt: "Sounds so nice, doesn’t it? The co-called SAFE Act is the first step towards disarming the citizenry. It does nothing to promote safety, and is laughed at by criminals. It was literally passed in the middle of the night. It must be repealed."
