Mike Gallagher (Texas)
Mike Gallagher was a member of the San Antonio City Council in the state of Texas, representing District 10 from 2014 to 2017. He was appointed to the position on January 30, 2014, following the resignation of former District 10 representative Carlton Soules. A special election was scheduled for the District 10 seat in May 2014.[1]
Gallagher was the only candidate to file for the special election, leading the San Antonio City Council to issue an ordinance in March canceling the election and declaring Gallagher elected. He was re-elected in 2015, but did not seek another term in 2017.[2][3]
Biography
Gallagher obtained a B.A. in political science from New Mexico State University and an M.A. in mass communication from the University of Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 29 years, retiring at the rank of colonel. His professional experience includes working as the senior White House social aide for President Ronald Reagan (R), the media relations director for General Norman Schwarzkopf in Operation Desert Storm, the director of public affairs for U.S. Air Forces Europe, the director of public affairs for Air Combat Command, and as the special assistant for public affairs to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon.[3]
