Husband, Father, Christian, Veteran, Businessman, Mayor; These are the titles I proudly wear in our community each and everyday. I am a patriot that strongly believes in American values and protecting the freedoms and liberties that make Michigan and America great. Free speech, the 2nd Amendment, election integrity, personal property rights, right to life, education or our children, reigning in and restricting bureaucracies, and putting a stop to mask and vaccine mandates are among the top issues of my conservative platform. Government should be to uphold these things, but far too often instead threaten them. If we expect accountable government, we must elect accountable and capable people to government. I'm running for State Representative to take my experiences and Army discipline to Lansing as your voice in our legislature. I promise to stay true to our values, uphold the state and federal constitutions and work everyday to accomplish positive change in our government.
  • Born in Flint, MI 1970*Christian Faith*Graduated from Au Gres-Sims H.S. 1988* U.S. Army 1990-1994*Studied at Delta College*Married wife Mary 1996 with 2 children, Nicholas and Natalie*Customer relations Mgr Darton Archery 1996-2005*Owner Hunter's Niche Inc. 2003-2021*Serve on City Planning commission and TIFA boards since 2015*Chair of Arenac County Planning Commission*Serve on Arenac County Soldiers and Sailors board*Elected to Au Gres City Council in 2017 re-elected 2020 *Mayor for City of Au Gres
  • My diverse experience an Army veteran, business manager, business owner-employer, along with my vast local and county government and community service gives me the understanding of the importance of being your representative in our state legislature along with the proven ability to lead and fight for what's right. I will legislate with constitutional restraint and never consider our rights as bargaining chips in negotiation. Being a State Representative is not a starter position in government and I am prepared and ready for this important role.
  • Leadership and service are in my blood and I have been doing so in many forms for over 30 years. I am respected by my colleagues, subordinates, and community earning the recognition from private organizations, local, state, and federal elected officials with several endorsements to proudly include the most notable from the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.
  • As a Michigan business owner for nearly 20 years, I understand hard work, sacrifice, fiscal responsibility and the hardships that come from big government regulations, taxes, mandates, and shut downs. When Michigan family owned restaurants were forced to close and/or limit capacities by Governor Whitmer; I stepped up , organized others to create a community initiative called the SOAR (support our AuGres Restaurants) program to help local restaurants avoid closing their doors for good.
Recognition and representation of rural areas, working with local municipalities to give them the support and resources needed to maintain infrastructure, emergency response and mitigation, protecting natural resources, and enhancing their communities. Emphasis on broadband internet and reliable cellular services urgently needed for communication, commerce, education, agriculture, and emergency response for rural areas. Adequate funding for drainage and categorize in terms of infrastructure with better analysis and upkeep of dams, rivers, streams, creeks, ditches and the effective surrounding areas. Getting ahead of and combating evasive plant species in our waterways like frogbit and phragmites along with man made problems such as PFAS. Farming is Michigan's second largest industry and suffers the same pains as all businesses but also many unique to a predominately generational career. I will work to make it easier for farmland succession to the next generation farmer and help to promote farming as along with higher education and trade schools. Listen to our sportsmen and women regarding our hunting and fishing regulations making sensible rules that will help continue the outdoor sports rich Michigan heritage. K-12 school curriculum grounded in reading, writing, arithmetic, and history. CRT and sexual explicit material have no place in our classrooms with parental rights to know and be involved in their child's education. NO government imposed covid-19 vaccine mandates!
Probably not the first historical event, however one of the biggest impacts or clearest memory would be of the space shuttle Challenger disaster in 1986 watching it on T.V. in the high school library with classmates during what was my sophomore year.
I worked as a dishwasher and general kitchen help while in high school. 2 years including most weekends and full time during the summer months.
One of mutual respect and understanding of separation of power with checks and balance. A common goal of following the state constitution at the will of the people even if politically or ideologically divided.
A dilution of state sovereignty with authority going to a centralized federal government. More losses of conventional manufacturing companies and jobs associated with difficulty to replace those with other means. Continued infrastructure challenges associated with Michigan climate (frost-thaw, needed use of salt on roads). Older farmers passing away or quitting without a new generation carrying on what is in many cases a family business. Increased cost of energy. Education that indoctrinates ideology and entitlement mentalities without accountability. Continued care for our natural resources especially waterways and the great lakes.
Absolutely, experience gains wisdom and ability along with an overall understanding of the structure and order it's to be conducted. We must take these roles serious if expecting real results, working coalitions and relationships with other government offices small and large alike.
Maintaining communities of interest and respecting county and municipal lines if and when possible.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Michigan

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
