Michael A. "Mike" McDermott (b. November 22, 1961) is a former Republican member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 38B from 2011 to 2015. He was a 2014 Republican candidate for District 38 of the Maryland State Senate.[1]

Biography

McDermott's professional experience includes working as a Commander in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Worcester County Sheriff's Office.

Elections for the Maryland State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 24, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 25, 2014. Incumbent Jim Mathias was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Mike McDermott was unopposed in the Republican primary. Mathias defeated McDermott in the general election.[1][2][3]

McDermott ran against A. Kaye Kenney, Marty Pusey and Joe Schanno in the September 14 Republican primary, coming in first to advance to the general election. He came in second to Norman Conway (D) in the general election on November 2, 2010, securing the second of two seats in the district.[4]
