McGowan ran for re-election to the Metropolitan Utilities District Board of Directors to represent Subdivision 6 in Nebraska. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
McGowan was previously appointed to the board in 2010. He lost a bid to retain that seat in 2012.[1]
