Mike McMahon was an at-large member of the Alameda Unified School District Board of Education in California. He was first elected to the board on November 5, 2002, and served until 2014.

McMahon faced two challengers in his bid for re-election to one of two at-large seats on November 4, 2014.[1] Mike McMahon (Alameda Unified school board member, California) lost the general election on November 4, 2014.

McMahon has lived in Alameda for over 30 years.[2] He works as a principal at the McMahon Group, coaching those who want to integrate family, career and community service. He has previously worked as a compliance specialist at the Oakland Unified School District Office of Charter Schools, as an IT analyst and as a manager. In addition to serving on the Alameda Unified Board of Education, McMahon has served on the Alameda California School Boards Association as secretary and treasurer since September 2009. He has also served as treasurer for the City of Alameda Democratic Club since 2004.[3]

McMahon earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from California State University at Hayward. His son and two daughters graduated from the Alameda Unified School District, and his four grandchildren now attend or will attend schools in the district.[2][3][4]

Two at-large seats on the Alameda Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. Incumbent Mike McMahon was defeated by challengers Gary Lym and Solana Henneberry.

Funding

McMahon filed Form 470 with the Alameda County Registrar of Voters, indicating he did not intend to raise or spend more than $1,000 for his 2014 campaign. Because of this, McMahon did not have to file any additional campaign finance reports.[5]

Endorsements

McMahon received endorsements from the Alameda County Democratic Party and the Asian Pacific American Democratic Caucus of Alameda County.[6][7] A list of his individual supporters can be found here.
