Mike Meister announces 2014 candidacy for Nebraska Legislature
June 14, 2013

By Tyler King
OMAHA, Nebraska: Mike Meister, previously considered to be a possible candidate for 2014 gubernatorial and Senate elections, announced that he will be running for District 48 of the Nebraska State Legislature. State Senator John Harms will be completing his second and final term with the legislature, leaving the district open to challengers. Meister did consider both the Senate and gubernatorial contests, but ultimately decided, "my most effective path to getting something accomplished for the people of Scotts Bluff County and Nebraska lies in the Legislature." He pointed to funding for the Heartland Expressway and a need to revisit the use of public utilities to provide broadband internet access to rural areas of the state.[1]
