Elections for the South Dakota House of Representatives took place in 2016. The primary election was held on June 7, 2016, and the general election was held on November 8, 2016. The candidate filing deadline was March 29, 2016. Incumbent Patrick Kirschman (D) did not seek re-election.

2014
Myers ran for election to the office of Governor of South Dakota. Myers succeeded in gaining ballot access as an Independent. To do so he submitted at least signatures from 3,171 registered voters by March 25, 2014.[5][6]
Myers' running mate is Lora Hubbel, a former Republican gubernatorial candidate.[7]
