- Few members of the public attend fire district meetings. This makes it challenging for us to keep them informed about financial and operational challenges and successes. I would like to work on improving transparency and increasing communication with partner agencies and the public.
- The current board of commissioners consists of three members. While this meets the state law minumum, five member boards are far more typical, because they allows pairs of commissioners to discuss district business between meetings without a quorum being formed. This is especially useful when meeting with other public agencies or for committee work done between public meetings.
- It is imperitive that we provide all the tools and training necessary to allow our first responders to safely and efficiently perform their work. Nearly all equipment used by first responders is expensive and has expiration dates that can effect safety and even your home insurance rates. Having a detailed plan for all such maintenance and replacement is critical in managing costs over periods ranging from months to decades.
