John Doe investigations
Two John Doe investigations, beginning in 2010 and ending in 2015, were launched by Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm (D) into the activities of staff and associates of Gov. Scott Walker (R).[3] While Tate was Chair of DPW, he used the John Doe investigations related to Scott Walker to raise money during the 2012 gubernatorial recall campaign. He sent an email solicitation to donors asking for $10 while accusing Walker of being involved in stealing $60,000 from military veterans. Walker initially requested the investigation into the missing funds. Two former Walker aides were subsequently tried and convicted of stealing the funds.[4][5]
