Mike Welsh is a member of Allentown City school board. He was first elected to the board on November 5, 2013.

Welsh is an insurance agent at AC Thompson Insurance and Financial Services Co in Allentown.[1]. While this is his first school board race, he ran unsuccessfully for state representative in 2008 and for Lehigh County Commissioner in 2009 and 2011. Welsh graduated with a degree in business management from DeSales University in 1985. He previous worked as a paralegal for the Parkland School District and as a business manager at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.[1] He has also served as board president of the Liberty Bell Shrine Museum and Allentown Flag Day Association. Welsh is a registered Republican.[2]

2013

Welsh sought election for a seat on the Allentown City School Board. He ran against Debra Lamb, Ellen Bishop, David Zimmerman , and Kenneth Woolley Jr. 2013 for the election on November 5, 2013.[3] The field was narrowed from six candidates to five candidates in a primary held on May 21, 2013.

Funding

Welsh reported no contributions or expenditures to the Lehigh County Voter Registration Department.[4]

Campaign themes

According to an article written in The Morning Call, Welsh focused his campaign on bringing stakeholders in the district together to give the best education possible to students in the Allentown area.[3]
