Campaign themes
2014
Williams highlighted the following issues on his campaign website:
“ | If elected I intend to focus on three core issues: Financial Responsibility - Over the next four years the district is going to face some serious financial challenges. I want to make sure than the decisions made are efficient and effective, and that waste is identified and eliminated. As the state reduces the district’s budget, we need to use new tools to accomplish the educational needs of our community while living with the realities of tighter budgets. Expanded use of internet classes, webinars and other technologies that further our ability to prepare our children for a productive adulthood must be explored. My financial analysis background as well as 26 years of running my own business will be of great use during the coming years. Accountability - We must be accountable to taxpayers, parents, and community in what we teach, how we spend their tax dollars, and for the results we produce. This applies to the Trustees, school administrators, and teachers. Quality needs to be rewarded and mediocracy needs to be replaced. Conservative Civility - We need to maintain civility of public discourse in decision making while protecting our schools from the social values of bureaucrats in Sacramento & Washington. We need to make sure that the conservative values and traditions of our community are represented on our school board.[6] |
