Career
After graduating from Hope College in Michigan, Zolnierowicz worked in Florida on the staff of Katherine Harris, the secretary of state.[1] Zolnierowicz then worked with the Republican Party of Illinois before moving on to the staff of U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.). He also worked on a campaign for Illinois State Rep. Rodney Davis (R). He was the deputy chief of staff for Kirk until 2014.[2] With Rauner, Zolnierowicz worked as the deputy campaign manager in Rauner's gubernatorial campaign in 2014. In this position, he "oversaw 500 paid employees and more than 10,000 volunteers."[3] Rauner named Zolnierowicz his chief of staff in November 2014, saying, "I’ve worked closely with Mike Zolnierowicz for more than a year and he has my complete trust and confidence. I know he shares my commitment to making our state the most compassionate and competitive in the nation. Mike will be a dedicated public servant whose only focus is on bringing back Illinois."[4]
Zolnierowicz also worked on Rauner's re-election campaign, but left the campaign in 2017. He went on to join Illinois State House Minority Leader Jim Durkin's (R) 2018 re-election campaign.[5] In 2022, Zolnierowicz worked on Richard Irvin's (R) 2022 gubernatorial primary campaign.[6]
