My name is Miles Brown and I’m a college student and proud Democrat running to represent Hanover and Lyme in the New Hampshire House of Representatives. In my time at Dartmouth, I’ve volunteered on several campaigns, working to elect progressive leaders at the state and federal level. As President of the College Democrats, I’ve fought to defeat legislation that would prevent college students from voting in New Hampshire. Politicians in Concord know how powerful student voices can be, so they’re doing everything they can to silence us. As state representative, I will work hard to ensure that young voices are heard on critical issues like mental health, climate change, and voting rights. I’m ready to get to work to pass legislation and to help make politics more accessible for young people.
  • New Hampshire is home to many pristine forests, mountains, lakes, and coastal habitats. In Hanover & Lyme we are fortunate to have access to beautiful natural areas including Pine Park, Mink Brook, and Oak Hill. The Granite State can play a leading role in fighting the climate crisis by advancing policies that limit carbon emissions and preserve our natural resources. As your state representative, I will pursue policies that seek to transition our state to cleaner energy sources, protect natural habitats, reverse riverbank erosion, and stop rising sea levels along the coast. The effects of climate change will be felt by young voters for decades to come. As a young voice in Concord, I'll be ready to lead the fight in stopping climate change.
  • Voting rights in New Hampshire are under attack. Republican lawmakers have introduced legislation that would strip thousands of college students of their right to vote. In 2021, I led a group of students to testify before the New Hampshire House Election Law committee in support of student voting rights. We need younger voices in Concord to advocate for student voting rights, so that college students are able to participate in New Hampshire elections. As your state representative, I’m ready to fight voter suppression to ensure that all eligible voters have the opportunity to participate in our democracy.
  • Today’s youth are facing a mental health crisis. As a college student, I was able to see how the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated many of the issues that exist within our mental health care system. As your state representative, I will fight to expand mental health resources and implement policies that help provide care to those who need it. I would work to pass legislation that makes mental health education a requirement in New Hampshire schools. Mental health is a critical issue that has not received enough attention in our state legislature. We need more young people in Concord who can represent the interests of college students and advocate for better mental health policies.
I'm passionate about a wide range of issues including climate change, mental health, voting rights, gun control, reproductive freedom, and education.
