Hi, I’m Miles, and I’m running for State Treasurer to introduce the Forward Party to Utah. My goal is to offer voters a real choice and challenge the two-party system. A vote for me is an investment in a better political future, not just for Utah, but for the entire country.
  • The heart of the Forward Party's mission is electoral reform because the current system encourages political extremes. Ranked Choice Voting, Open Nonpartisan Primaries, and Independent Redistricting Commissions.
  • A vote for me assures that the Utah Forward Party will continue to participate in future election cycles. It's an investment in a future where third-party options are a real possibility and where collaboration replaces division.
  • If elected, I will serve in the Office of the Treasurer with integrity. I will build on the legacy of past Treasurers while bringing new ideas. I will prioritize Utah’s financial stability and transparency, and make sure that the State Treasurer’s office stays focused on its main mission without political influences.
Informing the public to act as engaged citizens in their government. In the office of Treasurer that would be through transparency in financial reporting and returns on state investments, which includes making reports easier for Utahns to understand, and an annual report that compares Utah’s investment performance to other states.
Utah's ballot initiative process is known for being particularly challenging. I strongly support the right of voters to propose and enact laws directly. I believe that certain aspects of the process could be made more accessible. Specifically, I would advocate for reducing the overall number of required signatures and easing the geographic distribution requirements, which can be overly restrictive. Additionally, extending the timeframe for gathering signatures would allow for more meaningful public engagement. Lastly, I believe removing the current limits on compensating signature gatherers would help level the playing field for grassroots efforts.

Campaign website

Pomeroy's campaign wesbite stated the following:[2]

Election Reform Agenda

  • Alternative Voting

Ranked Choice Voting (RCV), Approval, STAR. Expand pilot program. Remove spoiler effect. Promote moderation.

  • Nonpartisan Primaries

All candidates run against each other, regardless of party. Top four advance to General Election.

  • End Gerrymandering

Require the Legislature to choose an Independent Redistricting Commission created map.

  • Campaign Finance

Cap donations and spending. Pilot Democracy Dollars. Voters should determine elections, not deep pockets. [3]

I'm Moderate Miles and I'm running for Utah House to represent Herriman/Riverton. I'm the Democratic candidate in this race. I used to be Republican but left the party a few years ago. I don't feel like I fit squarely in either party. I'm concerned by the extremism, divisiveness, and lack of civility we see on both sides. I want to serve our community and represent the people over any particular party or special interest.
I want to focus on the real issues that everyone agrees on: responsible growth, clean air/water conservation, and affordable healthcare. These issue are being worked on now and will continue to be so; they are complex. I think if we limit the attention given to divisive issues we will have more time to focus on these important "boring" issues. In addition, I have volunteered with non-profits supporting people in poverty, the formerly incarcerated, and recovering addicts. I think these communities could use more legislative attention to ensure our state policies are incentivizing economic mobility, proper mental health, and decreasing recidivity. Throwing money at issues is a lazy approach. Working with people directly, understanding their stories, understanding current policy, figuring out solutions all take much more time and effort. I favor incremental approaches that we can measure are making a difference.
