Mimi DesJardins was a judge for the Maui Second Circuit District Court of Hawaii. She was appointed by Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald in December of 2011 to fill the seat of Rhonda I.L. Loo, who was appointed to the Maui Second Circuit Court. In January of 2012, DesJardins was confirmed by the Hawaii Senate and resigned on April 23, 2013.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Judge DesJardins earned her B.A. from the St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland. She later graduated with her J.D. from the University of Puget Sound.[5]

Career

Before being appointed as district judge, DesJardins was a family law and criminal defense attorney. She also has worked as "a deputy prosecuting attorney, deputy public defender and deputy corporation counsel in Maui County." In addition, DesJardins had served as a Per Diem Judge for the Second Circuit since 2006.[6][7]

Resignation

DesJardins announced her resignation on April 23, 2013, the same day as a complaint was filed against her. The complaint charged DesJardins with tampering with a government record.[4]
