I am a long time advocate and volunteer for many organizations. I have a BA in Political Science and a MA in Public Policy and Non Profit Management. I work in the mental health field. Currently I volunteer a lot for the Elizabeth Dole Foundation helping caregivers of disabled veterans and at Give An Hour helping caregivers of people with rare diseases. I am a mom of three adults with disabilities and a grandma. I have also worked and volunteered for the past thirty years helping families of children with disabilities including attending and helping parents with over 800 IEPs. I am and have been very involved in many community organizations that families in many capacities with a focus on education, disabilities and women's rights. I have been awarded national caregiver advocate of the year in 2022 and was a finalist in the Quad Cities remarkable woman of the year in 2022 as well.
  • Too many voices in Iowa are not being heard. When you are not heard your power is taken away. I want to give the people of District 93 their voices back. I hear them when they are concerned about education and the AEAs. I hear them when they talk about a women's right to healthcare. I hear comments about tax cuts and not funding programs for people with disabilities. I hear the voices of the people and I will be the candidate to bring them to Des Moines!
  • We need to work together to create an Iowa where our children want to learn here, stay here, work here and raise families here. We need to work on improving Iowa so people will stay here by working on things like minimum wage, affordable housing and competitive job offerings.
  • We need to put people above politics. We need to work on creating policies that help families, continuing to work on making Medicaid, snap, public housing, etc more accessible. Let's talk about how we can help families afford their groceries, their bills and to take care of their children.
I am most passionate about families. I care about issues that involve children, disabilities and education. I care about women's issues like healthcare, the glass ceiling and domestic violence. I care about listening to the people and giving back their voice so they are heard and laws are made to reflect their voices.
Women, present and past. Their struggles are very real. Their determination and spirit is admirable. I admire Gloria Steinem, Patricia Ireland, Elizabeth Dole, Elizabeth Warren, Taylor Swift, Coretta Scott King, Alice Paul, Marie Curie, Susan B Anthony to name a few.
Politicians need to listen to the people who live in their districts. Listening is more important than giving speeches. After they listen then politicians should follow through and do what they are being told is needed, using not their own opinions but those of the people.
I am a good listener, I understand policies and their impact on people and I am a great mediator. I am a terrific networker and can be very articulate. Most important, I care about people and their lives.
To vote the way their constituents ask them to vote. To attend all votes, to do the work they were hired (voted) to do!
That I served the people and made a difference in lives.
Hostess at a restaurant, it lasted a week. I poured coffee on too many people. I am not someone who should be working in the restaurant industry. They have my respect and support but it is not where my talents are!
I read too many to chose one! I love the whole library. Books have all the information I will ever need in them! They are so important to our development. I stand with libraries and authors everywhere and feel we should never ban books.
My granddaughter and I listen to Taylor Swift's Shake It Off every morning. It stays in my head all day.
I have a disability and use a wheelchair. Sometimes people don't see me as capable or able to do things because my legs don't work anymore. The truth is it has made me a better person. I manage quite well. I adapt and overcome.
They work together and listen to each other to do the work they people want done.
Uniting the people who are elected with the people who are in their districts. Communication is a must. I think education will continue to be a problem. Keeping people in Iowa to live, work and play will also continue to be a problem.
Not always. Sometimes people forget where they started or don't know the struggles of everyday life which is very important in making laws.
Yes! We all may not agree but we can talk and work together on legislation. Bipartisanship is very important.
There are many past and current legislators I think are amazing. In Iowa I think past state legislator Phyllis Thede was amazing, a hard worker and is still trying to help people because she cares.
Education, Health and Human Services
Transparency is the only way to be held accountable. Everything must be available to the people and if something is questioned all information must be given to the people.
