The Minnesota Election and Resignation of Legislators Amendment, also known as Amendment 1, was on the November 8, 1966 ballot in Minnesota as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was defeated. The measure would have allowed legislators to seek election to other offices as well as provided a resignation procedure for legislators.[1]

Although the measure gathered more "yes" votes than "no" votes, Minnesota requires that the majority of all voters vote "yes" in order to pass an amendment. In 1966, there were 1,312,288 total voters, requiring a vote of at least 656,145 to pass a measure.
