Minnesota State Senate elections, 2000

Elections for the office of Minnesota State Senate consisted of a primary election on September 12, 2000, and a general election on November 7, 2000. All 67 seats were up for election to two-year terms following redistricting in 2001.

Qualifications

To be eligible to run for the Minnesota State Senate, a candidate must:

• Be eligible to vote in Minnesota
• Have not filed for more than one office for the upcoming primary or general election
• Be at least 21 years old by the swearing-in date
• Be a resident of Minnesota for at least one year
• Be a resident of the legislative district for at least 6 months before the date of the general election
