The Minnesota Term Limits Amendment did not make the November 2012 ballot in Minnesota as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. The proposed amendment would have imposed term limits on members of the State Legislature.[1]

The amendment was sponsored by State Senators Gary Dahms and Paul Gazelka.[2]

Text of measure

The ballot language that voters would have seen reads as follows:

"Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to place limits on the number of terms of office of state legislators?"

  • YES
  • NO

Elections before 2012 must be disregarded in determining the limits imposed by the amendment.[3]

Constitutional Changes

The proposed amendment would have amended section 6 to Article IV to the Minnesota Constitution.[4]
