Minnesota Workers' Compensation Court of Appeals
The Minnesota Workers' Compensation Court of Appeals has exclusive, statewide jurisdiction to review workers' compensation cases on appeal. It is part of the executive branch, rather than the judicial branch.[1] The Minnesota Workers' Compensation Court of Appeals (WCCA) was created as an executive branch independent agency by Chapter 175A of the Minnesota Statutes. The court has five judges who serve six-year terms. Judges are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the state senate. The governor appoints the chief judge who is responsible for the administration of the court. WCCA decisions can be appealed directly to the Minnesota Supreme Court.[1]
