Four seats on the Minnetonka School District School Board were up for general election on November 3, 2015.

The seats of at-large incumbents Charlie Kanan, Lisa Sumner, Lisa Wagner and Karen Walkowski were up for election.[1] Sumner and Wagner, along with newcomers Mark Ambrosen and Katie Becker, ran unopposed and won the four at-large seats. Neither Kanan nor Walkowski filed to run for re-election.

Minnetonka School District is located in central Minnesota in Hennepin County. The county seat is Minneapolis. This county was home to 1,152,425 residents in 2010, according to the United States Census Bureau.[2] In the 2012-2013 school year, Minnetonka School District was the 17th-largest school district in Minnesota and served 9,596 students.[3]

Demographics

Hennepin County outperformed the rest of Minnesota in terms of higher education achievement in 2013. The United States Census Bureau found that 45.8 percent of county residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree, compared to 32.6 percent for Minnesota as a whole. The median household income in Hennepin County was $64,403, compared to $59,836 for the state of Minnesota. The poverty rate was 12.8 percent, compared to 11.5 percent for the entire state.[2]
