Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a Fountain Inn resident and member of First Baptist Upstate Church Simpsonville. My husband Greg, I have a blended family of four boys, with 3 of them having graduated from GCS schools, one currently enrolled, and one teaching in the district. As Co-founder and President of the Fountain Inn High School Booster Club, I’ve led initiatives that raised over $653,000 for FIHS Athletics, significantly benefiting our student athletes. I launched the "Rise Together Plan" with the Arts and PTA, and founded the widely attended "Fury Friday" parade. Since 2007, I’ve dedicated myself to various PTA roles at Bryson Elementary and Middle School, and chaired a successful canned food drive at Hillcrest High School, collecting over 20,000 cans for local services. I’ve also been involved in teaching Mission Friends, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. Through the Junior League of Greenville, I contributed to raising $500,000 for initiatives supporting women and children. My involvement in the Little Black Dress campaign underscores my commitment to tackling local poverty. With years of dedication to enhancing lives and building community, my extensive volunteer work exemplifies my motto, "Do, don’t just talk about it or promise it, do the work." I am committed to continuing this hands-on approach in public service, bringing a proven track record of real impact for our children and community.

• Shared Ownership, Active Citizenship, Lasting Impact Our collective efforts prepare them with the skills and values needed to succeed and lead. Investing in their education today builds a foundation for a prosperous future, ensuring lasting impact for generations to come.
• No Money, No Mandates Mandates should only be enforced with the accompanying financial support needed for their successful implementation. I am committed to building strong relationships with our state elected officials and the Department of Education to ensure our concerns about funding realities are heard. I will advocate for district proposals that are practical and aligned with our budgetary constraints.
• Boosting Teachers for Greater Impact and Growth To attract and retain top-notch teachers, we must prioritize competitive compensation in our budget. I am committed to developing fiscally responsible budgets that ensure fair salaries for educators. Our teachers, who often spend more time with students than parents do, deserve the best support. Well-supported teachers and coaches lead to well-prepared, successful students.

An elected official should demonstrate integrity, be deeply invested in the community, and prioritize the success of all students. They must collaborate respectfully with leadership, ensure fiscal responsibility, and advocate for strong educational policies. Supporting parental choice and fostering trust through transparent leadership are key to serving the community effectively.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

A school board member's core responsibility is to support students, teachers, and the community by prioritizing educational success and safety. They should ensure resources are effectively allocated, set academic standards that meet community needs, and maintain transparency. Listening to constituents and managing taxpayer funds responsibly is key, with a focus on delivering high-quality education that prepares students for the future.

What legacy would you like to leave?

The legacy I would like to leave is one of meaningful impact and positive change. Specifically, I aspire to:

The primary role of a school board member is to ensure that the district provides a high-quality education for all students by setting clear policies and goals. This includes advocating for students, supporting teachers and staff, and ensuring responsible use of resources. By building strong connections between the community and schools, listening to stakeholders, and making informed decisions, school board members help create an environment where every student can succeed.
