The Mississippi Cigarette Tax Amendment did not appear on the November 1, 2011 ballot in the state of Mississippi. The measure's status, according to the Mississippi Secretary of State's website, is listed as "expired."The measure would have amended the Mississippi Constitution to require a new tax to be levied on cigarette sales in the state. The revenue of the tax would have gone to the state Division of Medicaid and other administrative purposes, according to the text of the initiative.[1]
