Mississippi Last Will and Testament, Amendment 1 (1987)

The Mississippi Last Will and Testament, Amendment 1, also known as Amendment 1, was on the ballot in Mississippi on November 3, 1987, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed that the constitution be amended via House Concurrent Resolution No. 7. The amendment proposed to amend Section 270, which allows a person to bequeath all or a portion of their estate to a charitable, religious, education or civil institution, subject to any statutory rights of the survivors. It proposes to increase to 180 days the minimum time before the testator’s death that will containing such a bequest must be executed in order to be valid.[1]
