The Mississippi Race and Marriage, Amendment 3, also known as Amendment 3, was on the ballot in Mississippi on November 3, 1987, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed that the constitution be amended via House Concurrent Resolution No. 13. The amendment proposed to repeal Section 263, which prohibited the marriage of a white person with an African American or a person having a certain percentage of African American blood.[1]
